The necktie (or tie) is a long piece of cloth usually silk, worn around the neck, resting under the shirt collar and knotted at the neck. Different types include theascot tie, the bowtie, the Texas tie, and the clip-on tie. Today's necktie, ascot, and bow tie are descended from the cravat. Ties are usually not sized, but may be available in longer sizes for taller men. Men and boys wear ties as part of regular office attire or most often, formal wear.
